PHOTO OF BIG CREEK IN NEWTON COUNTY (856 KB) Big creek is the area where all of my ancestors were located by the early 1800's GILMORE CEMETERY, RAYNHAM, MASS. (380 KB) Located about 1 block east of 138 hwy and about 100ft south of Britton street. Note my Digital Camera can pick up detail that even my eye cant see. It is a lovely, quant cemetery surrounded by a stone wall and is about the size of my living room. YOU MUST SEE IT. LOG HALL SCHOOL (136 KB) This is the one room school that most of the children in Big Creek attended. Wilderness Road (750 KB) Wilderness Road photo from The Cumberline Gap. Many of our Ancestors would have traveled over the Smokies Mountians using this route. JAMES SIMPSON HOLT TOMBSTONE (2743 KB) James Simpson Holt Born March 10, 1793 Spartanburg, S.C. Died September 1879. Burried Martin Cemetery, Lipan, Hood County, Texas. His first wife Elizabeth Fortner is burried near him, marked only by a stone.
