The Gill family have been traced back to Bristol, London and eventually to Lynton in Devon. The last date recorded being Philip Gill born 1702 in Culbone a parish close to Lynton. The early Gills have had a main occupation as Tailors.
Families acquired along the way include HALLADAY, BOURNE and CROSS. The BOURNE family were engineers and some members in the 1800's have emigrated over to Canada where they apparently worked on the Canadian Tram system.
