| I am researching my family name of Gilmers. Our earliest ancestor is James William Gilmer, who is buried at Cedar Springs Assiciated Reformed Presbyterian Church Cemetery (8 mi. SW of Abbeville, South Carolina). I am also seeking a connection to James Gilmer Junior, who left Carrickfergus, (which is a seaport and borough of County Antrim, Northern Ireland, on the northern shore of Belfast Lough, 9 1/2 miles northeast of Belfast,) on October 26, 1789 and landed in Charleston, South Carolina on December 24, 1789 (a passage of 8 weeks and 3 days). His father James Senior and brother Robert (who is associated with Roberts Presbyterian Church in Anderson, South Carolina) is thought to have come to the United States at the same time. Also I am looking for Gilmers in Abbeville and Andeson County of South Carolina. |
