Charter Member: MRS. MAYME ANN VRABEL GIRDLEY OF INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA, Our First Secretary and Editor, assigned to research in INDIANA RECORDS in the public domain and conduct personal interviews of family members. Charter member & former President: The Late FRANCES CHRISTINA GIRDLEY BARKER,1934 - 2005, first duly elected former and current president, assigned to research in VIRGINIA RECORDS in the public domain and conduct personal interviews with family members. Obituary: Frances Christina Girdley went to be with the Lord on November 28, 2005 at the age of 71 years. She was a retired medical secretary with nine years service at the Medical Collage of Virginia. Mrs. Barker had also worked for River Road Baptist Church. She was baptized in Southaside Baptist Church of Louisville, KY. Mrs. Barker was a member of the Bon Air Historical Society, the Order of the Eastern Star, where she was Worthy Matron three times, Virginia Court #1 Order of the Amaranth, where she was Royal Matron one year, the White Shrine and was a life member of the Daughters of the American Revolutuion Regent's Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon Eurel Girdley, Sr. and Florence Forrest Christina Stout Girdley; and a brother, Vernon Eurel Girdley, Jr.She lives in the fond memories of those she left; her beloved husband, Layle Brent Barker of Richmond; her son, Larry Alan Barker and his wife, Brenda Jean O'Bryant, of Haymarket, Virginia; a brother, Harry Watson Girdley; a sister, Virginia Carol Girdley Pickerell and her husband, Charles R. Pickerell; a nephew, Richard Austin Pickerell, all of Louisville, KY.; and a niece, Patricia Ann Pickerell Best of Indiana. the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Avenue. Funeral Services and interment will be in Louisville, KY on Friday at 2 p.m. with burial in Cave Hill Cemetery with Pearson Funeral Home, 149 Brechenridge Lane, Louisville making arrangements in Louisville, KY.
