I am researching the family of LAURENCE COFFEY of County Roscommon, Ireland. He migrated to County Roscommon about 1796 when he was evicted from his land in County Westmeath. He settled in Ashbrook, Parish of Lissonuffy, a short distance from Strokestown. He leased land there and eventually LAURENCE married BRIGID WALSH daughter of HENRY WALSH. LAURENCE and BRIGID were my great grandparents. I am also researching the family of BRIGID MURPHY of Rooskey, County Roscommon, daughter of WILLIAM & MARY (HOAR) MURPHY who married LAURENCE's son JAMES (my grandfather)in 1864. I have a great deal of information on their descendants. Also, in my maternal line are the families of WILLIAM MURDOCK from County Mayo, and MICHAEL HICKEY from County Offaly, Ireland. They migrated to POMFRET,CT. during the 1850's. |
