I am originally from Hannibal, Missouri where the Glas(s)cock name is very common. I am the great-great-great-grandson of the Asa Glascock (1785-1844) who has the distinction of having married three different times to cousins all of whom also had the last name of Glascock. Additional surnames common to my family tree are Dimmitt, Ruhl, Dietrich, Campbell, Parker, Zumwalt. The Glascocks, Dimmitts, and Parkers moved from both Virginia and West Virginia to Ralls and Marion Counties in northeast Missouri during the period from 1820 through 1840. The Zumwalts came to the St. Charles, Missouri area before 1800. The Ruhls and Dietrichs moved from Germany to Adams County, Illinois in the 1850s. I work for the University of Missouri as a Senior Research Scientist. I am interested in both archaeology and genealogy. By day, I study archaeological materials and try to figure out where the artifacts came from. By night and on weekends, I collect genealogical information trying to learn where my relatives and I came from. I have information on more than 6,000 people, but I'm still trying to correct a number of errors in the data before I make it widely available. I'm having lots of fun doing it. If you have an interest in the Glascock's who lived in northeast Missouri (especially those descended from Asa), please feel free to contact me. |
