We are researching the Bevans (Bevins, Beavans - there are many variations) family name. The furthest back we can go is Ignatius Calvert Bevans who was married to Mary Mudd, a great-great-aunt of Dr. Samuel Mudd. Ignatius was born in 1745. We are not sure of where he was born. We do not know his brothers/sisters nor his parents. We have found records that indicate he settled in Allegheny County, Maryland (15 Mile Creek) in 1791. We know of one son named Henry Bevans. Henry Bevans married Ellen or Eleanor Clark and lived in the same area. Their children were: James Henry Bevans m/ Eveline Louise Bevans; Eliza Bevans m/ Ransom Higgins; Leonard Bevans m/ Mary Gale; Louisa Bevans m/ Lemuel Cross.
