The families included within this page are all from the same branch The main part of the tree of the surname of Glenn is incomplete before 1840. Other surnames within this tree are England,Russell,Akers,Houghton,Bailey,Guske,Frush,Blanchard,Clayton,Plummer, and others. Places of origin mostly England,Allgehny County, Pennsylvania Ohio, Indiana, Illionis, Nebraska, Colorado, Virginia, North Carolina, Kentucy, Adair County, Most of these pioneers ended up settleing in Iowa. Some moved on but most stayed the Hawkeye State. In the language of Native American's it meant "Beutiful Land."
The Glenn's settled in Polk County Iowa first near Mitchellville. One brother, Frank sold his share of the farm and moved to Dallas County, Iowa. Between Waukee and Adel. There Frank and Melinda raised 13 children. While his brother stayed on the old family farm near Mitchellville. Frank's older brother, Charles Craig Glenn & Elizabeth Depew also had a large family.
It was common to have large families in those days so when the parents were older they would have help for the farm work and manytimes the boys would keep the farm to work, after the parents were to old to do the work.
I Believe most of the Glenn's in Dallas & Polk Counties in Iowa are Descendants of these two brothers.Although unsubstantiated.
