1. ABRAHAM1 CHILDERS was born November 15, 1752 in Albemarle County, Virginia, and died May 06, 1849 in Letcher County, Kentucky. He married ELIZABETH ROBERTS 1784, daughter of CORNELIUS ROBERTS and MARY BENTON. She was born 1768 in Amherst County, Virginia, and died February 17, 1833 in Perry County, Kentucky.

BRAHAM CHILDERS:
Abraham Childers was born on November 15, 1752 in Albemarle County, Virginia. He enlisted in the War of the Revolution in 1777 under Captain Samual Cabell; placed in 4th to 5th regiment. He was made a cook under General George Washington and served as such for 18 months. He was under Captain Pamplin and Colonel Merriweather for 3 years and discharged at Winchester one month after Cornwalllis' surrender. He was in the battle of Brandywine and in hearing of guns at Guilford. His brother, Moseby, was killed beside him at the battle of Brandywine.

In 1784 Abraham married Elizabeth Roberts, a girl born in1752 and raised in Amherst County, Virginia. The had 8 children. Elizabeth died in Perry County, Kentucky on February 17, 1833 at age 81. Abraham died at age 97 in Letcher County, Kentucky on May 6, 1849.


1830 Floyd County, Kentucky Census records two Abraham Childers, persumably father (this Abraham) and son.

1830 Perry County, Kentucky Census records an Abraham Childers with occupants in his household as follows: 1 female 0-5 years old, 1 male 20-30 years old, 1 female 60-70 years old (persumably Elizabeth), and 1 male 80-90 years old (persumably Abraham).
