Our family tree was first compiled by Raymond Goheen of Newcastle Ontario. It starts with Thomas Goheen Sr. who came in 1793 to what was then the District of Newcastle in Upper Canada but which is now Hamilton Township, Northumberland County near Port Hope Ontario Canada from Buck's County Pennsylvania. He brought with him his wife, Rebecca Clarke and their children, Thomas Jr., Charles, Elizabeth, Samuel and Jesse. All received two hundred acres of land for remaining loyal to Britain and all descendents can use the title UE after their names because of this. I am currently entering all the names of these descendents into the Family Tree Maker Programme. Some returned to the U.S. but Goheens have spread all across Canada and the United States. Our ancestor left brothers in Pennsylvania and I would love to be able to link us up with the Goheens who stayed in Pennsylvania at the time of the American Revolution but so far have been unsuccessful.
