NEW NAMES, SURNAMES, AND ANECDOTALS- LAST UPDATED 3/23/99 This site contains an ever expanding web of the paternal AND maternal family lines of myself and my husband. I decided early on that, every one of my 4 grandparents, 8 great-grandparents, 16 2nd-great grandparents, 32 3rd-great grandparents, 64 4th....etc. etc. is as important as the ones with whom I share a name by cultural edict. I now have one of my son's lines back to the 17th generation. If I had each sirname back that far, there would be 131,072 direct ancesteral family names (maybe someday). So many sirnames appear here, that, I hope you will find some of interest to your research.
Anyway, the focal point of the Pingley & Smith lines in America is VA/WV. Families on these pages came primarily from Germany and England, some possibly from France and Ireland. They arrived early in American history to ports from Connecticut to Virginia. Some allied families include Good/Gutt, Clowser, Messenger, Smouse, Rosenberger, Dehaven, Karickhoff, White, Nutter, Lanham, Cale, Casto, Conley and Fortney.
The Aronoffs & Goldsteins came to New York from the Ukraine, along with most if not all of their linked families. Due to the absence/loss of records pertaining to Jews in the Ukriane, these are very challenging lines to follow. Allied families include Brodat, Dorfman, Liederman, and Schatz.
The Report link shows all individuals in my tree at this time. The HOLCOMB outline is the farthest generation on my tree. I have included it to show some sibling lines. The Ancestor report is direct line only. Birthdates of live individuals, or those without known death dates under 100 years old, have been deleted for privacy reasons. If you note spelling, typo mistakes, or know a death date on a person who I have privated out, please notify me.
