A Marsh Family Home Page

I am researching the life and family of Richard Marsh, born in the 1830's/40's in the UK. Starting out in the UK as an actor he moved to the US (New York) in 1868 and became well known as a Scenic Designer in the theatre, using the stage name "Richard Marston." He died early in 1917, possibly in the US, there being no record in the UK lists.
Richard was the son of the actor and actress who used the stage names Henry and Mrs Marston. They were both fairly well known in London and performed for some time at the Sadlers Wells Theatre and a number of other theatres in London which are still active today. Henry Marston's real name was Richard Henry Marsh who, in the 1881 census, gave his place of birth as Highworth, Wiltshire, UK. He was born in 1804, married in 1830 and died in London in 1883.

Mrs Henry's real name was Georgina (or Georgianna) Noel who, in the 1881 census, gave her place of birth as Marylebone,Middlesex, UK. She was born in 1809 and was the daughter of the artist John Baptiste Noel. She died in London in 1887.

Any information on the lives or origins of these people would be much appreciated. I am willing to share information I have.
