Joseph Albert "Ab" Ewart, 65, of Alexandria, died Friday February 8, 2002, at St. Peters, Missouri.
He was born December 2, 1936 in Stockpot, ,Iowa, son of William and Leona (McKee) Ewart.
On July 4, 1955, he was untied in marriage to Sandra Elaine Winters at Wayland.
Survivors include his wife Sandra of Alexandria; one son Randy Ewart and wife Martha, of Wayland; three daughters, Lori-ann and Gina Ewart, both at home and Debra Gorham and husband Kent, of Burlington, Iowa; four grandchildren: Hannah and Katie Ewart of Wayland and Sean and Adam Gorham of Burlington, Iowa; four bothers, Norman and wife Elisie, of Canton, Leon of Keokuk, Iowa; David and wife Darla, of Wapello, Iowa and Dan and wife Margie, of Montgomery, Indiana; one sister, Virgina Brammer of Keokuk, Iowa; mother-in-law, Wilma Walls of Kahoka, brothers and sisters-in-law, Kennth and Pat Winters of Canton and Howard and Dorothy Winters, of Port Angeles, Wasington;as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Laverne.
As a baby, "Ab" family move to Missouri where he was a lifelong Clark County resident. He had served in the United States Army Reserve and was co-owner of Honey Creek Ranch and owner/operator of Honey Creek Trucking, Inc.
He was a member of the Southern Baptist Fellowship at Wayland where he served as Church Deacon, Church Treasurer, also Chairman of the Church Building Committee. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to work hard, and especially loved working and driving big trucks and taking care of his cattle.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 12 at 10:30 A.M. at Wilson Funeral home with Rev. Randy Ewart and Rev. Gene Baker officiating. Mrs. Margaret Baker was organist and soloists. Special music was also provided by Rev. Richard and Connie Handyside.
Honorary pallbearer were: Dolan Barnes,Jr., Gary Berry, Vaugh Barry, Rick Sharanek, Ronnie Fox, Gene Cobble,and Chad Varner, Pallbearers were Norman Ewart, Leon Ewart, Dan Ewart, David Ewart, Kennth Winters and Mark Gibbons.
Burial in the Bluff Springs Cemetery in Canton. Memorials were suggested to the Missouri Baptist Children's Home. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home.
