MY RESEARCH FAMILIES

My mother's paternal ancestors were descendants of John Moody Farra, born October 29, 1825 in Lexington, Rockbridge Co. VA and died April 17, 1914 in Wayne Co. WV. He was the only child of George W. Farra, birth and death date unknown, and Judith Whitlock, born in Goochland Co. VA, died November 7, 1825 in Lexington, Rockbridge Co. VA. John Moody Farra married Mary E. Rains in Pulaski Co. VA June 15, 1852. They had 10 children, one of which died while still a baby. John told of being a blacksmith for the Union Army during the Civil War. Records show that he moved up and down the Shennandoah Valley between 1840 and 1860. He eventually moved his family from Tazewell Co. VA to Wayne Co. VA/WV between 1860 and 1870. Their son, Winfield and his wife Emma Browning Farra were my mother's paternal grandparents. Winfield' son, John Harper Farra was my mother's father.

My mother's maternal ancestors are descendants of Isaac Brewer, born July 20, 1789 in VA, died May 3, 1868 in Logan Co. WV. He is the son of Isaac and Sallie Roark Brewer, early settlers in Logan Co. Hezikiah and Christina Fry's son, Hezekiah and his wife, Martha A. Perry Fry were my fathers paternal grandparents. His father was their son, Jarvey Baldwin Fry.

My father's maternal line are the descendants of Alexander Mullins, born October 4, 1810 in Burke Co. NC and died in 1896 in Pike Co. KY. His wife Margaret Fleming was born December 1812 in Lee Co VA and died in 1896 in Pike Co. KY. The descendant line runs through their son William "Billy" Mullins and his wife Fannie Caroline Brown who lived in Mingo Co. WV. Their son, Robert Lee Mullins and his wife Barbara Ann Carter were my father's maternal grandparents. Their daughter, Katie Mullins Fry, was my father's mother.
