| I am researching my ancestry regarding the history of the Blanchard and Ingalls families in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. I am also researching the lines of the women who married Blanchard and Ingalls men. The Blanchards descend from Thomas Blanchard who arrived at Boston on "The Jonathan" in 1639. Thomas son, Samuel was an early settler of Andover, MA. Benjamin Blanchard removed to what is now Hollis, NH in the early 1740's. His grandson Joshua, Jr. was a Minute Man in the Revolution and died shortly after his return from fighting in the Charlestown Campaign. Joshua's son Joshua Moore Blanchard settled in Washington, NH where his descendants remained until the 1980's. The Ingalls descend from Edmund Ingalls who came from England in 1629 and with his brother Francis settled Lynn, MA. His son Henry bought land in Andover, MA from the Indians. His grandson David removed to Greenfield, NH in the mid 1700's. His son David marched to Lexington in April of 1776 and he settled in Bradford, NH by 1790. David's descendants stayed in Bradford until the late 1900's. |
