I am gathering information on ancestors beginning with Benjamin Ogle, my 19th Great-grandfather through James Jones my second Great-grandfather and branches thereof. Have reference to Benjamin Ogle through the marriage of my 4th Great-grandmother Catherine Ogle to Rev. James Lemen, Sr., in the late 1700's. Can trace this family to current generations.I am most interested in finding any relatives with the surname "Jones". James Jones who m. Mary Elizabeth Glass on October 26, 1837 in St Clair County, Illinois, may be the only hope of a continuance of this "Jones" line. His history is vague. Originally from Bourbon County Kentucky; after divorce moved from Illinois to Cass co. Nebraska. Their son Theophilus Jones (b.7/3/1840; d. 1905) m. Mida Louise King. Two sons: Fred Crosby Jones, (b. 4/7/1879; d. 12/15/1931) m. Alda Goldie Wilkinson (b. 2/20/1886; d.7/06/1952). Their only son Wilkinson Jones (b. 11/4/1905; d. 1/25/1981) m. Audrey Berniece Davenport (b. 4/14/1909; d. 9/30/1994). The elder son Lucian King Jones (b. 6/27/1870; d 4/11/1915) m. Nellie C. Gough of Carrollton, Il. (d. 3/19/1946) Their daughter Alma Margaret m. Thomas D. Wickham. L.K. Jones moved from Greene Co., to the Chicago area in 1906. The King and Jones families were centered in Greene County, Illinois with the "home place" located near Kane, Illinois. The information I have gathered comes from previous research by my cousin Lucian Dressel, from biographies published by Charles Ezra Neeley and Emma King Neeley and from numerous newspaper clippings, church histories and correspondence saved by my Father, Wilkinson Jones. Updated report added January 1998, reflects descendants of David King with notes containing supporting information re dates and history. This is a "work in progress"! |
