The Gravett family, Berkshire, England

Updated September 29, 2001

Just started to pull together strands of my fathers' side of the family which is lost in the mist of time due an unhelpful ancestor who burnt the family file one generation ago much to the rest of the family's disgust! Gravett seems to be a name associated with the Norman invasion of England (1066) and may even stretch back to pre-Norman times with a link into the continent which returned with/after the 1066 invasion.

A number of strands of the Name have evolved (e.g. Gravette - the French Link?, Gravatt and Gravitt)

As far as I have yet established, my fathers' strand of the family have remained in the south of England, Kent and North London all of which seem prevalent in the recent past as orally passed down.

Happy to hear news from any others with possible links/leads and to share info as well!!

My journey begins!!
