OBITUARY
F.E. PALMATEER
Frederick Ernest Palmateer, one of the family of 10 children of Morris and Hannah Palmateer, we born January 14, 1880, at Clay Center (Kansas) and died at the Clay County Hospital, Tuesday, July 29, 1958, at the age of 78 years, six months, and 15 days.
He grew to manhood in the Oak Hill conununity and was married to Mrs. Ida Mae Allen Jackson. May 23, 1903. One son, Warren, was born to this union and he died in 1914 at the age of 11 years. He was a loving father to his four stepchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1951. a stepson, Vemon Jackson, born IS Match 1892, and two step-daughters, Maggie (Midge) and Mabel Jackson, born IS March 1892, death 23 December, 1916..
He was engaged in farming in earlier years and Iater he and his wife managed lodging homes in Manhattan, Concordia and Salina.
After the death ofhis wife, he moved to Clay Center to be nearer his sister and other relatives. He had been an invalid for the past three years and a patient in the hospital the past 22 months. He was a patient sufferer during his long illness.
He accepted Jesus Christ early in his life, but it was during his time he lived in Salina that he was baptized and received into membership of the Assembly of God Church.
He is survived by his sister, Mrs. Albert Siebold of Green; a step-daugbter, Mrs. (Midge) Hilding Swenson, her husband and family of Los Angeles, California, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at the Peterson-Neill Funeral home on Friday Morning, August I. with the Rev. V.C. LeMon in charge.
Mrs. Walter Obenland and Mrs. RD. McClenahan Sang "In the Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross," with Mrs. Andrew Carlson at the organ.
Short services were held at the Mt. Liberty Cemetery west of Oak Hill where he was buried in the family lot beside his wife and son.
Pallbearers were his nephews, James Johnston, Warren Siebold, Newman Johnston, Howard Wacbsnicht, Lloyd Clark and Wendell Wacbsnicht.
