Friday November 3, 1933
Mrs. Nancy J. Hawkins, aged 70 years, 9 months and 15 days, passed away at her home about 3 miles south of the City about 9 o'clock Friday night. Late that afternoon she had been out about the place to look after the live stock and while on her way back to the house, was striken with heart trouble, dying shortly after lying down on her bed. She was a native of Kentucky coming to Indiana when but a small child with her parents who settled in Grange Hall neigborhood, where she grew to womanhood. In 1879 she was married to Amos C. Hawkins, and to that union was born one child, Homer, who survives. She is also survived by one brother, John F. Conder, and two sisters, Lida Lawrence and Elizabeth Detar. She made her home for some years with two nephews, John Hollon and Roscoe Detar, and one niece, Bettie Lawrence. she was a member of the Church of Christ at Pleasent Ridge Church, from which edifice on Sunday afternoon her funeral took place, conducted by Rev, Boston of Palmyra, Harrison County. Burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Friday, January 10, 1913
Clark Hawkins, a well known farmer of the Grange Hall Community, died Monday afternoon of liver trouble. The funeral services were held wednsday morning at the White Church, burial being made at the nearby cemetery. The deceased was a good citizen, husband and father, and leaves a wife, two children and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his death.
Note: The White Church is the same as the Pleasent Ridge Church.

Notes for HOMER E. HAWKINS: Obituary Clipping (Clipping E. page 144) Homer E. Hawkins Died Wednesday Night Homer E. Hawkins was found dead in bed by his wife at their home near Petersburg, Thursday morning. Mr. Hawkins had not been well for some time but was so much improved that they had gone out Wednesday evening, and he had enjoyed himself very much and retired seemingly as well as usual. Mr. Hawkins was born in Pike county almost 64 years ago, the son of Amos and Nancy Conder Hawkins, He is survived by Mrs. Hawkins, the former Maude Hollon. The funeral will be conducted by Harris Funeral Directors, Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at Pleasant Ridge with Rev. William Boston in charge of the service. Interment will be in the adjacent cemetery. |
