Hello-my name is Helen Hurdis Grant M.D., and I am the unofficial Genealogist for the family. This page is devoted to the Hurdis line, and includes Briden, Watmough, Pollitt, Howarth, and Roberts.

Adam Hurdis was born in Manchester, England and immigrated with his mother, Alice Clarence and his sister Mrs. Howarth to Rhode Island. He married Sarah Briden(Samuel 1811 m. Hannah Pollitt 1810 in 1831),in 1867 in Pawtucket, R.I. Their one surviving child was Edgar Briden Hurdis 1869 who m.1 Alice Watmough 1870(Charles E. Watmough 1841 m.1 Ellen, m.2 Sarah Longworth 1845)in 1892; son Charles Everett Hurdis 1893. He m.2 Eliza W. Hall 1875 in 1901; daughter Gertrude Gould Hurdis 1903. He m.3 Henrietta DeV Anderson in 1905 and had children: Milton, Frank D., John W., Edgar B.Jr., William D., Hope, and Harriet.


By family history Mrs. Howarth's dau. Mrs. Roberts had a son Thomas Howarth Roberts and grandson Thomas Caton Roberts.
