Notes for Joseph Abraham "Jos. T." Meredith: (Extract from "Sank Meredith" by Mikel Meredith)
Jos. T. married Catherine Sanders on April 4, 1816, before marrying her sister, Elizabeth Sanders, on April 6, 1917. Both marriages took place in Hardin County, KY, which was later part of Grayson County, KY. Catherine was apparently the mother of William H. "Will T." Meredith.
From the Edmonson County Order Books. File: #259, Year: 1845. Listed as Joseph T. Mer. Vs. Rachel Sarah Meredith (widow of Wm. H. Mer.) & C. Will T's step-mother, Elizabeth Sanders Meredith, did not want Will T. to have the deed to the property listed in this lawsuit. By depositions that were taken at the time, the property listed in this file was located on Green River near the Good Springs Community of Edmonson County. Jos. T. had sons: William H. Mer. -- dead at this time; Thomas T. Meredith -- called as witness; Joseph T. Meredith -- called as witness.
Based on discussion with Norman Warnell. Question asked to Mr. Warnell: Where did Joseph T. Meredith live? Response: My guess is that he lived between Good Spring Community and the old Houchin Ferry (later Sanders Ferry) on Green River. In the 1830 Census, Francis Houcin, Garland Ray, William Mitchell, Joseph Merdith (had 5 sons, 10 and under in age), John Sanders, Samuel Sanders, William Skaggs, etc. are shown together. Houchin, Ray, and Mitchell lived south of Green River at the Turn Hole bend. John Sanders, Samuel Sanders, and William Skaggs lived in the Good Spring Community just across the river from the first mentioned men. John and Samuel lived at the Sanders Ferry place where the Sal Hallow emptied into the Green River, above the mouth of Buffalo Creek and below the Still House Hollow. If you have a map, you can see those landmarks. John Sander's place passed to his son Better Sanders.
