Please note that I will make changes to the information in the Duncan McLaurin family tree appearing on this site shortly. I have found additional information regarding the McLaurin line. Until then, I would like to make a correction here regarding Generation #1. Please ignore the information provided on Generation #1 and use the information below until I can update this information. If you accessed this information earlier, please make the corrections below.

John McLearan (original immigrant) arrived in New Hanover County, North Carolina in 1730. His arrival predates the arrival of the Argyll Colony of 1739. He purchased land with Patrick Steward during Stewart's first year in Carolina Colony. John McLearan fathered three sons: 1) Duncan McLerran, 2)Archibald McLerran, and 3) Daniel McLerran.

1)Duncan McLerran born about 1730 in Scotland married Mary Galbreath (date unknown). He died about 1795. Duncan and Mary raised the following children: John McLerran (abt. 1765), Daniel McLerran, Archibald McLerran (d. 13 September 1821), Nevin McLerran, Christian McLerran, Neill McLerran (b. abt 1760), and Duncan McLerran, Jr.

2) Duncan McLerran, Jr. married Mary Williams. He fathered the following children: Daniel, Nevin, Elizabeth, Christian, Duncan McLerran, III and Archibald McLerran.

3) Duncan McLerran III married Ann Southerland: There childred were: Archibald McLerran, James M. McLerran, Sarah, McLerran, John McLerran, janett McLerran, and Maria McLerran.

From this point, the genealogy listed in these pages is correct to the best of my knowledge.
