Gravallese (Graves)/Walker Families
Updated December 29, 2007The Gravallese name is of Italian origin, but may have stemmed from a French ancestor named Graves (Grave). Some of us have reverted to this usage. There are also Amerusos, Coluccis, DeFronzos, Cocos on my side.My wife is a Walker and has Richardsons, and O'Rileys in hers.Names are distributed in upstate New York, where we are, and across the U.S.A. Most Gravalleses are in Massachusetts from where my branch of the family moved. The Italian locations are mostly in the small towns of Sant'Angelo all'Esca and Villamaina, Avellino, Campania. On my maternal side, the Coluccis, Amerusos, and Piedemontes came from Ripabottoni, Campobasso, Molise (although at the time it was part of Abruzzo). They settled in the village of Holley, town of Murray, Orleans County, New York | |
