Marriage Notes for Sylvia Bernadette Marie Sergeant and Kenneth James King: Perth Courier - Octtober 17, 1946 KING _ SERGEANT - A wedding of interest was solemnized by Rev. W.R. Alp in St. Pauls United Church, Sept. 18, when Sylvia Bernadette Marie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Melville Sergeant, became the bride of Kenneth James King, Rideau Ferry. The bride given in marrage by her father, looked charming in a floor-length gown of white net over taffeta with three rows of white velvet and tailored bows on the inside net. The lace bodice featured a sweetheart neckline and short sleeves. She wore elbow silk mittens. Her floor-length veil of embroidered net was held in place with white velvet flowers. She carried an arm bouquet of American Beauty roses. Her only jewelry was a strig of pearls, a gift of the groom. Attending the bride was Miss Lila Keays, as maid of honour. She was attired in a floor-length gown of heavenly blue embroidered net over taffeta. Her finger-tip veil was held in place with blue velvet flowers. Miss Shirley Sergeant, sister of the bride, as bridesmaid, chose a floor-length gown of bridal pink wth matching headdress of pink velvet flowers. Miss Lila Charlton Chose a floor-length gown of pale pink net over taffeta. Her finger-tip veil was heldin place with pink velvet flowers. Each girl carried a shower bouquet of blue and white corn flowers with pink roses. The best man was Wilson King, brother of the groom, and the ushers were Messrs. Bill Roberts and Jack Day. Following the ceremony the guests were received at the Revere Hotel, Where a wedding dinner was enjoyed by immediate friends and relatives. A reception was held in Maberly Agrcultural Hallthat evening where the young couple received many lovely and useful gifts. For travelling th bride chose a turquoise dressmaker suit with black accessories. The young couple will reside in Perth.
