1. TELIFFE O1 ALVERSON was born Bef. 1650, and died Aft. 1705.
Notes for TELIFFE O ALVERSON:
Four Alverson brothers came to America about 1700 from Scotland.
Some say that they were not Scotish, but Swedish and that they just
stopped over in Scotland before coming to America. Of the four brothers,
one settled in New York, one in Rhode Island and one, possibly two settled in
Virginia. First known recorded birth was William Alverson, Providence, RI in
1738.
Further research, Book on Moody, AL History, indicates the following:
The first Alversons in America probably came from Norway through Scotland to Virginia in the middle of the 17th century. Their son or gandson was Teliffe Alverson who was born in 1654 in North Farnham, Richmond, Virginia and given a survey in 1697 and deed in 1712 to 150 acres in Northern Neck, Virginia.
Among the fist Alversons in St. Clair County, AL were Elijah, John Jr and Frances--three of the children of John Alvrson (1759-1872) and Frances Ann (Newton). Another child Zachriah went to Shelby County, AL. Their father John Alverson was wounded at the Battle of Brandywine and encamped at Valley Forge.

Thanks for the reply. I would be about 75% certain that your Alversons are descended from Telief Alverson who bought a farm in Richmond county (North Farnham Parish), Va. in 1688. His immediate neighbors were Peter Evans and a Taylor familes. The Evans and Taylor families intermarried, and I suspect they also intermarried with the Alverson's. All families kept these farms until at least the mid 1780's. If this is the case there probably is some sort of relationship between my Elijah and yours, but I just don't know what it is yet.
