Our family starts with The Vannoy Family that were Huguenots from France, but came from England landing in 1600's New York and The Currah Family who were coal miners in England and immigrated and set up house in S.W. Missouri during the boom town days. The England Family starts in New England and I'm still researching it. Part of that family also includes The Bales family who started as Quakers and turned into Baptists, politicians and newspapermen along the way.The local paper in Emience MO and Shannon Co. MO still runs to this day but it not owned by the family The Johnson family comes from Sweden, when the youngest brother leaves home and makes a new life in America. He comes through Ellis Island, learns to read and write English and evetually meets my grandmother, and raises a family. I've just come to know these people through family members, GEDCOMS, and just searching through sources at the libraries and online. I would like to thank Emory Thomas whose love for his lineage and detail with his site gave me the information that got me started with the Vannoy family.I also include Ray and Sandra Balfour who freely shared their website on Rootsweb.com and allowed me to include my information with theirs. My newly found Cousins Terry Young of the Currah Family, Mike and Nancy Shannon of the Bales Family and also my cousin Catherine Currae-Kilby,and Constance Taggert of the Johnson Family who shared their pictures of my Johnson family ancestors. I especially want to thank my Aunt Artie because without her I would never have found my grandmother's Bales or England family.Thank goodness her memory is better than anyone's...her's just gets better with time:) Thank you to all the ladies that have helped me at the libraries, the courthouses, the cemetaries and with state archives that I am still searching. There are many more people I will eventually include in this list of thank you's but for now.....I'm still digging!!!
