Henry DECOURTNEY, born in WV 1826, enlisted in the army in Cleveland OH 1845. While assigned to Fort Kearney, Nebraska, he fought in the Mexican War and was discharged in 1850. He then married Mary Ann WILLIAMS VREDENBURG, raised a family and worked as an agent at several forts in the Indian Territory before purchasing land near what is known today as the town of Courtney, Love Co., OK IT.
