A list of names doesn't mean very much. So what if I can trace my five times great-grandfather back to the year dot ! What is interesting is this person himself, not just his name, date of birth etc. What did he do for a living ? Where did he live ? Was he rich or poor ? Did he marry ? How many children ? How many children survived ? I'm trying to bring my ancestry to life - not very successfully, but I'm trying.Anyone who reads this and has some something to add, please get in touch !!

They then went to live in Sussex. Thanks to Sue Smith - Alfred's great great granddaughter - for this photo. - Esther Elizabeth Turner (24 KB)
This is my grandmother - my father's mother. I hardly knew her as she died, in Blackpool, when I was only 5. - The Saracens Head, Ettington (80 KB)
My grandfather and grandmother kept this pub in the early 1900s, and my mother, Vera Jones, was born here in 1906. My grandfather, Frederick Jones, was also a blacksmith here. - The Masons' Arms, Wilmcote (23 KB)
My father and mother, Bill and Vera Gregory, ran this pub from 1944 to 1963. I grew up here.(For a list of landlords, please refer to the notes for William Henry Gregory). - Henry Gregory (68 KB)
My great-grandfather, Henry Gregory, pictured in either Olton or Langley shortly before he died in 1906. The two little girls are his grandchildren - and my aunts - Ethel May Gregory and Annie Gregory.
