| I'm a 4th generation, direct descendant of JESSE BUCKBEE (b: NY,1792; d:WV,1875). (Jesse -> James -> Samuel Coffman -> Freda Mae) In the early to mid-1800's, Jesse farmed approx. 220 acres near what is now Job,WV - but in the late 1800's, the family apparently moved to the area around Maysville, WV. In the early 1900's, one branch moved to Kansas and another branch to the northwestern states. We are also looking for any information on JOSIAH BUCKBEE (b: NY, cir 1795) who lived in Randolph & Pendleton CO's, VA -now WV- according to 1830 & 1850 census. Josiah was a miller by trade. His wife was MARGARET CANFIELD (father: Daniel) in 1821 at Gandy Station in Randolph CO VA. In another direction, we're beginning to look for information on GEORGE BROOKS & his wife JANE McCROBEY/McROBIE, their daughter CINDERELLA SUSAN BROOKS & her husband GUY GILSON. They lived in & around Oakland or Deer Park, MD, around 1898. The Brooks family lived near Oakland, MD. We think that Jane's mother (known as GRANNY McROBIE) may have still been living around 1908 in a log house and raising a small girl left with her. Jane died in 1903 at age 55 near Deer Park. George was born in Orange CO VA. Cinderella & Guy were married in Oakland around 1900 and stayed in the area. Guy was born in Titusville, PA, and he had "family" near York, PA. Based on family stories, we believe his paternal grandmother was full-blooded Indian. Guy's brothers (& Guy himself?) were adopted out & have various surnames (not sure of spellings): FRED REITSINGER, GEORGE ROSS, HERB SLEITER, CLAUDE ?. We think their families may still be living in/near Oil City, PA. Cinderella (1879-1939) is buried in the McCrobey Cemetary in Deer Park, MD (Guy is buried in Deer Park because of strip mining around the McCrobey Cemetary).
