JOHN BLACKBURN SR

State of North Carolina, Rockingham County. 6th March 1829 ----- I John Blackburn Sr, In the name of God Amen,being weak in body, but in my perfect mind and judgement, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament ---

I will and bequeath to my three sons, to wit: Cyrus Blackburn, Milton Blackburn, Samuel Blackburn all my tenements of Land containing three Hundred Acres to be equally divided in quantity and quality -- if they cannot agree in the division they shall leave it to two or three good freeholders, which they shall choose to divide for them.

Over and above this Share of the Land I will and bequeath to my son Cyrus Blackburn one gray mare and colt, -- I likewise will and bequeath to my two Sons, Milton and Samuel Blackburn One Bay mare. I will and bequeath to my Son Milton Blackburn one cow & calf -- Likewise I will and bequeath to my two Sons Milton Blackburn and Samuel Blackburn, all my stock of hogs---- I will and bequeath to my three Sons Hugh Blackburn, Bryson Blackburn, Milton Blackburn One Hundred Dollars to each of them ------

I will and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Massey, One Hundred Dollars, likewise on sow and four shoats,----

I will and bequeath to my Son John Blackburn Fifty Dollars.---

I will and bequeath to my daughter Anny Cummons Fifty Dollars. ---

I will and bequeath to the heirs of my daughter Polly Dixon dec. the Sum of Six Dollars ---

I will and bequeath to my son Samuel Blackburn, one heifer -- and lastly I do allow to be Sold at Public Sale, all my personal property, and after my just Debts is paid, if there is any surplus arising therefrom, to be equally divided amongst by children by name, Elizabeth Massey, Hugh Blackburn, Bryson Blackburn, William Blackburn, Milton Blackburn Samuel Blackburn. ---

Lastly do appoint my friend William Lemmons and my son Milton Blackburn my Executors of this my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal the day and date above written ---- Signed and acknowledged in the presence of us

The execution of the foregoing last Will and Testament of John Blackburn dec. was duly proved in open Court by the oath of B. W. Braswell one of the Subscribing witnesses thereto, and thereupon ordained to be recorded. The Executors therein named qualified as such.
