Dear Mrs. Greene,
My name is James Miller, I am 15 years old, and am working on a genealogy of my family. I am related to you through the LeFevre and DuBois families, and possibly some others. I have some information on Isaac LeFevre which I thought might interest you. He was born on August 5, 1683, in New Paltz. He was the son of Simon LeFevre and Elizabeth Deyo. I have much more information on Simon, Elizabeth and Isaac which I will send you when I get it written up.
Isaac's wife Maritjen (Maria) was the daughter of Hugo Freer and Mary Ann LeRoy. Maria was born on 5/31/1696, in New Paltz.
My uncle is in possession of an old bible. It has been passed down in the family since 1720. There are many biographical entries. The first records the birth of Peter or Petrus LeFevre on December 27, 1720. Then his marriage to Elizabeth Vernooy is recorded on January 2, 1760. One later entry records the death of Peter on 10/25/1806. The entry which would probably interest you the most comes from 1773. It records the death of Maria (Maritjen) wife of Isaac- "Maria LeFevre is gostorum 7 March in the year 1773". This is in the writing of Peter, her son. The last entry is from 1847.
