Notes for Wilson Alford Welch: BIOGRAPHY: From Jeannie Williams:
Family tradition has it that he was on his way to Tahlequah, OK from Tyler, TX to make his Indian Land Claim, and that he is buried somewhere around Tahlequah. This has not been verified.
He was in Pulaski Co., MO according to the 1850 Census and in 1860 and in 1870 he resided at Plum Valley, Texas Co., MO. Between 1860 and 1870 he worked as a farmer. Between 1860 and 1876 he also worked as a realtor.
In the 1880 census he is listed as living in Bridgeport, Wise Co., TX, and later that year he was in Chico, Wise Co., TX and later obtained a land grant there in 1893.
He was in the Civil War and served in the Texas Co., Missouri Home Guard.
