Notes for Janie Bargeron: Obituary Janie Bargeron Lewis, was born February 2, 1904, in Burke County Georgia and departed this life on April 25, 1988. She was the eldest daughter of the late Georgia and John Henry Bargeron. At an early age, she became affiliated with the Fellowship Baptist Church where she was a faithful member. In 1922, she was married to the late Clarence Lewis, Sr. To this union, ten children were born, three of whom preceded her in death. In 1928 she moved to Greensboro, North Carolina where she joined the New Zion Baptist Church and was a faithful member throughout her life. In 1983, she was presented an award for fifty years of faithful service. Janie was a devoted wife and loving mother. She enjoyed helping others when and wherever possible. Her family and friends can truly say that she was a giving person. She gave of her time, love and herself. She was fondly known and referred to, by children of the family and neighborhood, as “Carolyn Mama”. She leaves to mourn their loss, five sons, Clarence Jr., Alvin, John H., Roy and Ray Lewis; two daughters, Georgia L. Wright, and Maggie Jean Turner; four brothers, Willie, Thomas, Quinnie and Yardrick Williams; two sisters, Bessie Griffin and Georgia Jones; twenty one grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.[HowardG.FBC.FTW]
