Notes for Kindred Griffis: POW by Mr. Folks Huxford He grew up in this section, his parents moving to this part of what was then Appling County about 1821. In 1825 the family was cut out of Appling into Ware County; in 1850, Kindred Griffis and family was cut out of Ware into Clinch, and in 1854 out of Clinch into Coffee County. This territory where he lived after mariage, is now Atkinson County. Mr. Griffis was in his 88th year at his death. He and his wife were buried at nearby Mount Zion Church of which they were charter members. Mr. Griffis was a deacon of Mount Zion Church from its organization in 1858 until his death.
