W. F. Dowell, better known as "Bill" was born in Stroud October 29, 1902, and died in an Oklahoma City hospital August 8, 1940, aged 37 years, 10 months and 9 days.
He was united in marriage in 1924, to Miss Velmah Holland and to this union one child was born, Mary Frances, age 8 years.
Mr Dowell lived in Stroud for nearly all of his life, except the past six years when he lived on his farm at Big Pond.
He is survived by his wife, one daughter, his parents, Mr. and Mrs W F Dowell; one brother Jewell Dowell, Konawa; two sisters, Mrs Amy Mashburn, Shawnee, and Miss Neva Dowell of Stroud.
"Bill" was well known and well liked, being a member of the what might be termed as, the old young set, who will miss him very much.
Funeral services were conducted from the Stroud Methodist church Sunday afternoon, Rev. G. M Dowdey, assisted by Rev. W. H. Alexander, officiating.
