This photo shows the headstone of my 4th great grandfather. He is buried at Claybank cemetery in Dale County, Alabama. Rev. Dempsey sold his 330 acre farm in the Jeffries Creek area of South Carolina on September 27, 1825 and headed to Alabama on the advice of his daughter, Lacy Mathews. Lacy and her husband, Elisha Mathews had moved to Dale County a few years earlier.
