According to the Dale County Heritage book, a deed shows that Thomas T. Smith sold the Clopton country store to W.M. Camp in 1869. I have no idea if this is the original building, but it is clearly very old. I am confidant that the W.M. Camp mentioned in the deed is my gg grandfather Wiley Camp. In Census records Wiley is often listed by the initials W.M. Camp. He died in Clopton in October of 1878. He was only about 40 years old.
