1. PETER¹ GROSSCLOSS, SR. (JOHAN ADAM^A, PETER^B) was born 23 February 1730 in Miesau, Rheinland-Pfalz, Bayern, Germany, and died 06 December 1803 in Ceres, Wythe County, Virginia. He married MARY MAGDALENA OTT Abt. 1755 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, daughter of JOHANN OTT and ELIZABETH KELLER.

Notes for PETER GROSSCLOSS, SR.:
According to a December 16, 1993 letter from Clark and Wanda Groseclose, "Miesau is in western Germany, a little northwest of Kaiserslautern, and not very far from the French border. In fact, this particular area has belonged to both France and Germany as wars were fought in the past. Church records from Miesau show many Grosscloss families, and do record the baptism of Johan Peter Grosscloss in 1737, seven years after he was born in 1730."

Peter apparently came to America in 1750 (church record indicated he emigrated on May 1, 1750. Listed as taxpayer in 1755 tax return for Derry Township., Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
In Lancaster County Militia in 1777 during the Revolutionary War.

Moved from Pennsylvania to Virginia about 1779. He settled about two miles west of what is now Ceres, Virginia.

Per the book "History of Bland County" the land grants of Peter Groseclose, Sr. and Peter, Jr. were signed by Patrick Henry.
