| My husband and I are originally from Indianapolis, Indiana. We have lived in Illinois, Wyoming and now we're in Ohio. This has made it difficult to do family research, so I have learned to rely on the internet quite a bit. I have found it is a great way to "meet" new cousins and other fellow researchers. This page is mostly a compilation of information that I have received from other researchers that I have corresponded with over time. I am researching the following surnames: SEYMOUR - originally from England, David Seymour was born in 1824 in Ohio, he was in Warren County, Indiana in 1845 and then moved to Rankin, Vermillion County, Illinois in 1866. My great-grandfather, Alvin Layman Seymour moved to Indianapolis, Marion Co., Indiana in 1890. LEUTERITZ - originally from Saxony, Germany, Johann Eduoard Leuteritz, (aka: John Edward Leuteritz) emigrated to the U.S. in 1871; in 1872 his family was in Marion Co., Indiana, but moved to Hendricks Co., Indiana in 1874. GROSECLOSE - originally from Germany, emigrated to Pennsylvania, then later moved to Wythe Co., Virginia. Our branch of the family then moved to Johnson Co., Indiana and then to Marion Co., Indiana. I am especially interested in the descendants of David Groseclose, my husband's great-great grandfather, who was one of several Groseclose's who moved their families from Virginia to Johnson County, Indiana. Much of my Groseclose information is from B. Clark Groseclose. He has written a wonderful book called "Groseclose's and Descendants in America". HAMMAN, HAMMOND - from Kentucky and Marion County, Indiana; (This is a note from a Hammon researcher: Christina Cook and Phillip Hammon are the ancestors of the Hammond family of Huguenot ancestry. These are not to be confused with the Hammond family coming from England and settling in southern Virginia. These came from the Palatinate, and were the persecuted Christian Huguenots of The Palatinate, Germany. --- Lyda Faulkner Hughes) JOHNSON - Levi Johnson was from Maryland, he moved to Kentucky where his son Nelson Johnson was born in 1818; Nelson moved to Marion Co., Indiana where his son Alva Nelson Johnson was born in 1855. Alva's family lived for a while in Boone Co., Indiana where my great-grandfather Charles Alvy Johnson was born in 1884, but then returned to Marion Co. MONEY - John Money was born in Pennsylvania in 1794. He later moved to Kentucky where his son John Thomas Money was born in 1827, they moved to Hendricks Co., Indiana in 1833. I am adding some pictures of the John Wesley Money family and their children to my page. I am also adding pictures of Herman Money; Grace, Wilbur & Herman Money; and Beatrice, John & Audra Money. I don't know how they fit into the family. If anyone has information on them please contact me. There are some of my Genealogy Reports available on this page. If anyone would like more information, or if you have information you would be willing to share, please contact me. I would love to hear from you. |
