I am researching the Grubbs family in Clayton Alabama. My Grandfather is Joseph Gary Grubbs m. Bertha Green. Gary is son of Joseph Anderson Grubbs born January 7, 1889; died: November 14, 1943. Joseph was son of Joshua Grubbs born in South Carolinia, married Nancy Jones. and burried in Pea Creek Church. Bretton (Brett) Grubbs born in S.C. in 1818 married Ave. Ave was a full blooded Cherokee Indian. Their grave marker (placed there by Leon Hinson) tells of Bretton's family burried with them it mentions a "Babe" Grubbs wife of John Grubbs. There are no dates. I beleave that John and "Babe" are his parents if so I may be able to trace them back to Enoch Grubbs Sr. From S.C. Any help in proving would be appreciated.

I am also reasearching the McGilvray family. My Great Grandfather, Will H. McGilvray, b. 0ct 31, 1890, d. July 1969. He married Ethel Agnes Land on June 20, 1920. She was born May 23, 1902 and died June 05, 1996. I have the McGilvrays traced back to John McGilvray b. 1798 Scotland. d. October 27, 1857. Most of the McGilvray's I have found are burried in the Old Scotch Cemetery near Baker Hill, Alabama. Along with John there are James McGilvray b 1789 in Scotland died: Aug 27, 1863; Anna wife of James Born S.C. Died April 6 1881 at 64 yrs.; Mary McGilvray b. 1781 d. 1831; Daniel McGilvray b. 1792 d april 9, 1837. I do not know how they are related. They are burried in the same section of the cemetery I beleave they all came over form Scotland together and are brogher and sisters.

The Lands are another family that I am reasearching. Ethel Agnes Land was my Great Grandmother. Her parents were Nathan Land and Nancy Ann Dixon. Nathan's first wafe was Sarah Owens.

Some of the other names that I am reasearching are: Baker, Baxley, Benefield, Dykes, Garrett, Gillis, Green, and Williams. All of these names have roots in Barbour Co. and Garretts in Pike Co. Alabama

Any information that anyone could give would be appreciated, I would be willing to share any information that I have.
