Notes for John Thornton:
1881 Census shows his family living at 10 Threlfall St. near Peel St.,
Toxteth Park Gore's Directory Reference RA11 Page 53, Piece 3648.
Ann Grundy's notes say he died in 1890 in Liverpool. Her notes say h e owned a candy store in Chester. He moved to Liverpool where he owne d Rope Walk.
Which if true means he either named his candy store "Rope Walk", or h e owned a real place where they made and reconditioned ropes or hawse rs. 1871 Census shows John T. and family living at 152 Vauxhall Rd. N ot too far from John R. Grundy on Circus St. So my Gandmother & Grand father Grundy grew up near each other in Liverpool even though they d idn't meet until about 1916 in New York City.Married in 1918.
