The Johann Caspar Grube Family originated in Kusel,Rhein-Pfalz, Germany. There is a possibility He may have come from Kirchberg, which is fifteen to twenty miles north of Kusel. Johann Christian Grube arrived in the New World Sept. 1738 in Philadelphia, Pa. From there Christian, his wife Susanna Gertrude Shreiner, and his three children traveled to Warwick Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania where he had already purchased a farm of 137 acres in Feb. 1738. Johann Jacob Grube, a younger brother, arrived in 1742 and also moved to Lancaster County, but set up in Manheim Township. At this time only four generations of information has been found. Johann Casper Grube, the son of Christian and Susanna, had two wives. The first was Anna Margaret Eckert, and they had seven children. Casper and his second wife, Elizabeth Heineke had one son. Elizabeth had previously been married and had two children. Christian Grube lived in the Neffsville area in Manheim Township. He, his wife Catherine Kammerer, and several children are buried at the Grube Graveyard on Buch Ave. Some of Christian and Catherine's children moved west to Ohio and Indiana. John Grube and his wife, Catherine Kurtz settled in Fairfield County, Ohio. Samuel Grube lived in Chippewa Township, Wayne County, Ohio. Jacob Grube and his wife, Anna Beam moved to Marion County, Indiana. Catherine Grube and her husband joined Jacob in Marion County. Others in Ohio include Elizabeth and Mary Grube, daughters of Christian and Catherine Grube. They both were married to Henry Hottenstine. Elizabeth in Sept 1828 and Mary "Sally" in Jan. 1831.They live in Eden Township, Seneca County, but no further information has been found.
