This home page is dedicated to finding the relatives and ancestors of my grandparents, Anton and Therese (Drempetic) Gubanc. My grandmother, Therese (Rose) Drempetic, was born July 16, 1884 in Britoff, Slovenia (formerly Austria-Hungary and Yugoslavia after World War I) the only girl of at least 4 children of Johann and Mary (Papler) Drempetic. She emigrated to Cleveland, Ohio, USA, arriving at Ellis Island September 15, 1907 at the age of 23. Rose married Anton Gubanc June 14, 1909 in Cleveland, Ohio where they had four children, Francis, Tony, Pauline and Robert (my dad). Anton was born December 31, 1882 in Vodice, Slovenia, the 5th boy of Jernej (Bartholomew) and Neza (Agnes) (Kimovec) Gubanc. Eight of Jernej's and Neza's children lived to adulthood, making Anton the 3rd oldest at manhood. He emigrated to Cleveland Ohio along with his sister Jera (Gertrude), arriving at Ellis Island May 19, 1906 at the age of 23. Anton's brothers Janez (John), Jernej (Bartholomew) and France (Frank) also came to the U.S., but at different times. Jernej was the only brother that moved back to Vodice in about 1907.
Anton died June 19, 1951 and Therese died October 8, 1954 in Cleveland, Ohio. They never were able to return to Slovenia to visit the family they left there.
Any relations or friends of individuals with the Gubanc or Drempetic surname are encouraged to drop me a line. Information on the family is posted on a GEDCOM maintained at the WorldConnect site for Rootsweb. It is a lot easier and more efficient to maintain one GEDCOM at one site. This also allows me to "clean" the family information to keep personal information on living individuals private.
Some of the surnames that are part of my research are GUBANC,SESEK,KIMOVEC,DREMPETIC,PAPPLER(PAPLER),JANC,SOULE,HUYCK, TRUMBULL,BENSKIN,RUSH,ROOT,HITCHCOCK,MOREY,IRELAND, AND RHODES.
Hope you have a great day.
