MATTHIAS GÜDEMANN (b. March 01, 1707, d. May 21, 1773)

MATTHIAS GÜDEMANN (son of JACOB GÜDEMANN and Margaretha Pfunderin) was born March 01, 1707 in Kaltenbach, Baden, Germany, and died May 21, 1773 in Vogelbach, Baden, Germany. He married Anna Maria Oswaldin on February 19, 1743 in Vogelbach, Baden, Germany, daughter of Hans Oswald and Maria Gräferin.

Notes for MATTHIAS GÜDEMANN:
Matthias moved from Kaltenbach to Vogelbach, another small mountain village across the Kander River valley three miles to the west, to marry Anna Maria Oswaldin in 1743. He died in Vogelbach in 1773, and his death record states that "he just wasted away".

Hans Jerg never married and he died in Vogelbach as a day laborer in1830.

Cunigunda died in Vogelbach in 1806 "of a tightness in her chest' as a single person. She was a frequent Godmother to her nieces and nephews.

In 1771 the two villages of Vogelbach and Käsacker had a bell manufactured in Lörrach for the Vogelbach church. Of the 31 contributors, our ancestor Matthias contributed less than the others, only one Kreutzer, the smallest possible denomination.

Our ancestors first lived in Vogelbach from about 1743, when Matthias married Anna Maria Oswaldin, to 1782, when Jacob Adam, his son, moved to Marzell to marry Anna Barbara Kropfin. This was only the first time span in which our ancestors lived in Vogelbach. Jacob Adam's son, Johann Jacob, moved back in 1807 to marry Maria Barbara Oswaldin.

Matthias was baptized on March 3, 1707, in Kaltenbach.
