JACOB GÜDEMANN (b. July 1678, d. Bet. 1707 - 1738)

JACOB GÜDEMANN (son of JOHANN GÜDEMANN and Maria Strohmeyer) was born July 1678 in Kaltenbach, Baden, Germany, and died Bet. 1707 - 1738 in Kaltenbach, Baden, Germany. He married Margaretha Pfunderin on September 04, 1699 in Marzell, Baden, Germany, daughter of Matthias Pfunder and Maria Eychin.

Notes for JACOB GÜDEMANN:
Death records for the years 1693 to 1738 are either not available or are of extremely poor quality. This probably explains why no death records of either Jacob (1678) or Margaretha (1680) and four of their five children can be found. We can reasonably assume that all of them died in Kaltenbach before 1738. Only our ancestor Matthias (1707), who moved to Vogelbach, has a death record.

Jacob is our only known male ancestor who was born and died in the same village.

Margaretha Pfunderin was from Lütschenbach, a small moutain village only one mile from Kaltenbach.

The mother of our ancestor Matthias was Margaretha Pfunderin, the daughter of Matthias Pfunder of Lütschenbach; and his great-grandmother, Maria Pfunderin, was the daughter of Andeas Pfunder of Vogelbach. If the two Pfunders had a common ancestor, to identify him, it would be necessary to go back to a time for which records are not available.

The Pfunder name is still quite common in the region. No Güdemann lives in Kaltenbach today.

Our ancestors lived in Kaltenbach from about 1676, when Johaan moved from Endenburg to Kaltenbach and married Maria Strohmeyer, to about 1743, when Matthias, his grandson, moved to Vogelbach to marry Anna Maria Oswaldin.

Jacob (1678), for some unknown reason, was baptized in Marzell, rather than Kaltenbach or Vogelbavh.
