The Gum Family Home Page

Updated September 5, 2000

I am researching the GUM surname. The furthest back I can trace it is to James Hinten GUM, born August 21, 1827. We do not know where he was born, but he married, lived and died in mid-Indiana, about 70 miles notheast of Indianapolis. His wedding date was 1860, and he died of snakebite in 1880. He may have come from Virginia through Kentucky.
I am also looking for data for the LUBERA, LIBERA or LUBEROWEJ surname. The name may be Czech, Polish or Russian. The cities of Majdan Huta (later Huta Sczepanska) and Wyrka are involved. We have sketchy data from 1840 forward.

I am willing to share any data I have with anyone else who needs help.
