Jessie Franklin Simmons, 89, Raven, died at the home of his daughter Mrs. Irene Southern at Martinsville, Wednesday Dec. 1st. Born in North Carolina he was a son of the late Milton and Elizabeth S. Simmons, a retired farmer and a member of the Baptist Church. His wife, the former Miss Lucinda Lawson, preceded him in death five years ago. Survivers include: two sons and seven daughters, Sam and Milton Simmons, Raven, Mrs. Annie Southern, Mrs. Minnie Lowe, Mrs. C. H. Whitt, Mrs. Willie Lawson, of-Raven, Mrs. Mary Ellen Southern, Epperly, W.V., Mrs. Irene Southern, Martinsville, Mrs. Lula Simmons, Summerfield, NC. Two sons preceded him in death. Funeral services were conducted Sunday at 2 from the home of his daughter, Mrs. Minnie Lowe at Raven with Elder Landon Colley in charge. Burial followed in the Simmons Cemetery, Raven, Hurst-Scott Funeral Home were in charge of arrangements.
