      3. Fountain J.2 Campbell (Fountain1) was born September 28, 1826 in Wythe County , Virginia9,10, and died January 25, 1888 in Typhoid Fever11. He married Malinda Jane Baugh in Russell County, Virginia, daughter of Absalom Baugh and Elizabeth Blessing. She was born August 06, 1832 in Russell County, Virginia12, and died January 23, 1888 in Russell County, Virginia13.

Notes for Fountain J. Campbell:
After his death, the heirs of Fountain were listed as John H. Campbell; F.J. Campbell; Eliza S. Statzer; and Bertha E. and Mary E. Campbell (children of George A. Campbell). On November 10, 1891, the land that Fountain had owned was bargained with and sold to Mary E. Carter by Fountain's heirs. The 70 acres of land were deeded to Mary E. Carter for $2.50. Mary had paid for the coffin of Fountain, and she became the guardian of the children of George Campbell, deceased. John H. Campbell served as administrator of Fountain's estate. When Fountain's personal property was appraised, it included the following items:

The 8th Kentucky Infantry, which Fountain Jr. was a member of, was the first Union unit to plant a flag on top of Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga, Tennessee. It was known as the Battle Above the Clouds and it was part of the greater campaign for lifting the siege of Chattanooga after the battle of Chickamauga. (Information emailed to me by T.
