Richard Parker was the first of our ancestors to bear the surname of Parker. He was granted land by his father before 1311 and was still living in 1346. The Parker name was a description of his occupation meaning an overseer of parks, lands and forests. Richard le Parker's father's name was Adam de Alancotes living in 1311 on land in Colne, Lancastershire.
