Nicolaus Gottschalk is listed among passengers on the ship Francis and Elizabeth sailing from Rotterdam and arriving in Philadelphia 21 Sep 1742. (he would have been age 6)

Harrison Co., Ohio Land Patent records show Nicholas Gutshall of Washington Co., PA to secure land in Harrison Co. on 8 May 1806. Other records show that Nicholas Gutshall erected the first saw & grist mill ever built in German Twp., and quite possibly the first ever built in Harrison Co., running it with both horse and water power. (Beers' p. 644) He died in Oct of 1807, so Nicholas did not last long after that accomplishment. One record shows that he came to Ohio from Washington Co., PA.

1800 census shows no Nicholas Gottschalk in PA, MD or VA so they must have been in transit to Ohio.

Sale of Property record July 25, 1795 155 acres of Nicholas & Margaretha Godshalk. This is SE of Reading, PA on what is now an interstate.

Tax records show Nicholas in Berks Co., from at least 1770 to 1789.

will dated 27 Sep 1807 will probated 5 Apr 1808 in Jefferson Co., Ohio Jacob & John Gutshall Executors Nov 10, 1807

Revolutionary War Registry shows Nicholas Gottschalk in from 1777 to early 1780.

A note I found states "National Road - Baltimore to St. Louis came through Harrison Co., Ohio".

not sure about below info.
Internet info states that Margaret was his 2nd or 3rd wife. Elizabeth Nuss must have been his first wife as he would have been age 22 when they married in 1758. Name of other wife also unknown.
